Create a new Slider

After you have purchased Slider Revolution (click here to purchase), log in to your wordpress backend, find the plugin option, and choose to upload and install the Slider Revolution zip.

Once the installation is complete, enter the activation code. This will allow you to use the plugin in its entirety.

Then go to the Slider Revolution menu from the Admin Dashboard and click the (+) New Slider button. This action will take you to the Slider Settings page, where you can adjust the global slider settings.

There are 4 options on this page.

  1. Content source

Just select the default slider.

  1. Slider title and short code

This is where the title and alias are entered. An alias is required to insert this slider into any post or widget via the shortcode.

  1. Select Slider Type

Here the Standard Slider is enough, if you have other ideas, you can also choose other types of sliders.

  1. Slider Layout

Select the one you want.

Change slider height:

The screen size should be displayed directly below the slider layout. Although Slider Revolution automatically calculates the slider height, you may want to use a specific height. The slider height can be set from the Layer Grid Size option. A custom grid size option is also available to specify a custom height value for each device. This feature is useful if you specifically want to build galleries with various image sizes.

Settings

The sidebar menu is the setting option for the slider. Adjust it according to your needs. It includes some of the following settings.

General Settings

Default tab

Make general adjustments to sliders and slides. Checkboxes are also provided to apply these global changes to all slides.

  • Background fit (important): Override by default. Fits the image horizontally, leaving no gaps. Select Include to prevent cropping.
  • Default Slider Duration: sets the slider duration
  • Animation Duration: Sets the transition duration
  • Transition (Carou sel Slider ignores) : The transition type of the slideshow, such as fade in and out, slideshow, etc.

Slideshow tab

Activate the Stop slide on hover option to prevent changing the slideshow during the hover action.

Layout and visual effects

Fine-tuning tab.

Select the fine-tuning type. You may prefer 2 or 3 simple

Navigation tab.

Allows managing slide navigation types. Arrows and Bullets are the most popular. To activate slide navigation, enable either or both. Select “No” for the Visibility > Always show option to activate hover navigation. For those who would utilize this slider for the gallery with thumbnails, it should be activated with the thumbs up tab.

Rotation settings (optional).

Activates the infinite scrolling option. It creates a loop between the first and last slide, and allows navigation to either side instead of returning to the first slider.

Click the green Save Settings (with disk icon) button to complete the slider creation.

Add Slideshow

Click the Slide Editor (with the pen icon) to create a slide show. The Slide Editor page consists of three parts: All Slides, Current Slide Setup, and Editor. We will ignore the editor function except for adding headers, as this tutorial focuses on creating basic slides.

  1. Slideshow

This section allows to manage slideshows. The first slide comes with an activated transparency setting.

  1. Slideshow settings

This is the most important but usually neglected section.

The main background section is where we build the slide content and allow to easily add images or videos. You may be confused about the name of the section, the background, but it actually represents the main content of the slider.

To create an image slider.

Under the Source tab there are two options related to images, the Main/Background image and the External URL. the Main/Background image allows to select an image from your WP media library, while the External URL allows to use an image from an external source.

If needed, go to the Source Settings tab to change the Background Fit option. Select the Include option to make the image fit the slider without a mask.

To create a video slider.

Select the Youtube, Vimeo or HTML5 option depending on your source type. Each option provides a cover image to display the image before the video is displayed. This feature is particularly helpful to improve site performance as embedded content is queried externally.

The source settings also provide certain options for the video, such as muting the video, rewinding the slideshow, etc.

  1. Editing

This section provides all the advanced features for building complex sliders.

Scroll down to the editor, hover over the “Add Layer” button and select the “Text/HTML” option. It will add a new layer for the title. Please edit the sample text as needed.

Font type and alignment options are provided directly below the Style button. You will need to change the alignment of the title. Click the Vertical and Horizontal Alignment buttons as needed.

Finally, you may need to add some margins to prevent overlap issues. Margins can be added from the X and Y fields.

Click the green Save Slide button to save the changes to this slide.

Now your slider is ready to use. You can repeat the same steps to create a new slide. You can add a new slide by hovering over the plus (+) icon and selecting Blank Slide or hovering over the current slider and selecting the Copy option.

Slider Revolution Pricing

It was mentioned earlier that Slider Revolution needs to be purchased, so how much does it cost? Is it possible to try it out? Unfortunately, Slider Revolution, the most popular slider plugin on the market, is not available for trial.

If you want to find plugins that you can trial, you can try SmartSlider3.

But don’t worry, it offers both annual and one-time payment plans. And its annual payment plan is only $29, which means that you don’t need to spend much money for this plugin.

Final

This article briefly describes two ways to create a slider.

  1. Install a theme with slider function.
  2. Create a slider with the plugin Slider Revolution

Compared to the two methods, I recommend the second one because you can set up your slider in a more diverse way without being limited by the theme.

So start your journey!
